Since we published our llama unicorn song, we have been researching other unicorn songs for children on YouTube. Here is a little summary of what we found!
The unicorn is one of the world’s favorite mythical animals. Pictured as a mighty horse with a singular horn, it has inspired legends, movies, and songs. Loved by adults and children alike, it is a popular creature that has been made into toys, plushies, party theme and other kinds of merchandise.
There are many unicorn songs written throughout time, some of them come with music videos. Of those that are then posted on YouTube, there are a few that made it to the first page of YouTube search result page, when the viewers search for the term “unicorn song”. Most of these videos are made for children, while a few others are probably more suitable for adults. Here are the top unicorn song videos that come up on YouTube, when the search is performed today (October 2019), in the United States with an incognito setting.
The Irish Rovers – The Unicorn Song
This is, of course, the legendary unicorn song written by Shel Silverstein. First released in 1962 by Silverstein himself, the song became popular with the Irish Rover version that was released in 1968. The song made it to the top 10 US, Canada, and Irish pop charts. While this a golden oldie, it is still very popular today, especially with children. People have since added cute movements associated with the animals mentioned in the song: green alligators, wild necked geese, humpty backed camels, chimpanzees, cats, rats, and elephants.
The YouTube video itself was uploaded on November 8, 2016, by XxMrBlondexX. It is not clear if the channel is associated with Shel Silverstein or the Irish Rovers. The last video upload from this channel was in 2010. As of the writing of this article, the channel has about 5K subscribers, while the unicorn song video itself has 5.8 million views. This is not really a music video, as it just shows the CD album cover accompanied by the song. It is however at the top of the search result page for “Unicorn Song”.
The llama unicorn song by Toy Fan TV
This is our very own llamacorn song! Released in January 2019, the music video has climbed to the second position on the search result page. It has about 416K views as of October 2019 and more than 2K likes.
It is a fun song about a new kind of unicorn: the llama unicorn or sometimes referred to as the llamacorn. The lyrics are simple and cute, describing the llamacorn as cuddly, soft, fluffy and sparkly. It is probably the first song that uses the word “rainbowy” in its lyrics.
The music video is colorful and fun, with a variety of animated unicorn images shown on the screen, along with dancing llamacorns. In some parts of the clips, a dabbing unicorn can be seen dancing to the beat.
The musical style is different from the Irish Rovers’ unicorn song, in that it is on a faster pace and dancey, with a beat that can make you start moving. You can watch the full music video of the unicorn song here.
Fluffle Pluff Tales: “PFUDOR” 10 hours version
OK, this is a video showing the “Pink Fluffy Unicorn Dancing on Rainbows” music video on repeat for 10 hours. We will cover the actual music video in the next section, so will not elaborate here.
For some reason, the 10-hour version seems to have quite a few viewers and comes up in the top 10 search results most of the time. Currently, it has 720K views and was uploaded by the VR Too channel.
Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows
This video is one of YouTube greats, which is a very simple music video with simple lyrics that are repeated over and over again. The origins of the song can be traced to Andrew Huang, another YouTube musical great, that made the song as a humorous response to his viewers’ request. This catchy tune is now part of YouTube history.
This particular video combined the song with visuals from My Little Pony, that were altered for comedic effect. The fluffy rainbow unicorn visuals is cute and somewhat mesmerizing.
Space Unicorn – Parry Gripp and Brianne Drouhard
One of our favorites, this video is from the YouTuber that also made other classics, such as “Breakfast Burrito” and “It’s raining tacos”.
With sweet harmonic tunes and fun music video, this video has garnered more than 17 million views over 6 years.
