Tonight, quietly, the sea and sky
Go hand in hand as the day slips away.
I lay beneath the starlight’s gaze
Imagining worlds I know not of.
Voices in the distance tell
Of times not passed but yet to come.
No machine can tell us this—
Only Old Navy men, who’ve sailed the seas.
And yet I’d leave tomorrow—
For that horizon far away.
They tell of whales and sharks
Of crashing waves and careless fishes.
Many shores they’ve explored,
And many storms they’ve survived.
And the night goes quietly by,
I listen to the stories they have to tell
And yet I’d leave tomorrow—
For that horizon far away.
